What’s the Strategy Behind Twitter’s Name Change?
Whether you’re an avid Twitter user or just a tech news aficionado, you’ve probably heard about Elon Musk’s latest iconoclastic strategic maneuver.
Why do we call it “the latest”? Simply because since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter for the staggering amount of 44 billion dollars, a series of dramatic and, at times, disconcerting changes have taken place. Musk’s decision to downsize over half of Twitter’s workforce triggered a ripple effect of efficiency-focused changes throughout the tech landscape. Industry behemoths like Meta and others were quick to emulate this move as a strategy to navigate the challenging economic climate of the period, marked by high inflation and recession fears. Mark Zuckerberg even proclaimed 2023 to be “the year of efficiency” at Meta. Additionally, Musk spearheaded the introduction of multiple features on Twitter, ranging from the debut of Twitter Blue, their flagship premium user option, to the introduction of long tweets, the capacity to edit tweets, and expanded possibilities for longer videos.
